"Some folks asked recently how I find new music. Here are three of my favorites.
Most of us already know about and use it. My favorite way to use Pandora? iPhone–free app, just plug it into the car, and you’re streaming awesome new–or your favorite old–music.
The MySpace Music Romeo app for iPad is my favorite new app. You decide what kind of video channel you want it to make, and it customizes it for you. The only downside: too many commercials. But it’s free, so hopefully a paid version that eliminates the ads is on the way.
This is internet radio made from music blogs…Whenever you make something like this, it’s all about the decision of which blogs to pull from. For my taste, this one is working. The design is clean, easy to use, and most importantly, the music is great."
"A THOUSAND SUNS.
A TREATMENT FOR WARNER BROTHERS RECORDS BY JOE HAHN
The inspiration for this video comes from J. Robert Oppenheimer's reaction to the world's first nuclear explosion in New Mexico.
In an effort to verbalize what was then indescribable, he quoted a passage from the Bhagavad Gita, the classic Vedic text:
"If the radiance of a thousands suns were to burst forth at once in the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One. I am mighty, world-destroying Time"
When an atom splits it releases other neutrons, and he was quick to realize that under the right conditions those neutrons could go on to split other atoms in a chain reaction.
This would lead to one of two things: a steady generation of energy in the form of heat or a huge explosion.
If each splitting atom caused one released neutron to split another atom, the chain reaction was said to be "critical" and would create a steady release of that energy.
But if each fission event released two, three, or more neutrons that went on to split other atoms, the chain reaction was deemed "super critical" and would rapidly cascade into an almost instantaneous, massive, explosive release of energy.
My goal with this video is to encapsulate the sentiment of the next LINKIN PARK album and our new direction; we will not perform in (undecipherable....) ... in videos of the past.
This video will show the power of the singular vs. the power of the multitude. The Intention of splitting an atom was to generate nuclear fission. Inspired by the power of a single atom splitting can emit the power of a thousand suns. The beauty of destruction.
We will show this graphically by distorting images playing between high resolution and low resolution. We will break down pictures to metamorphosize a recognizable form into beautiful imagery.
We live in a world of technology. The advancement of man has allowed us to live in luxury. The flipside is that the more laced that everything has a consequence. "

The Skinny: Linkin Park helped give rise to a rap-rock movement that might have been better off never happening, judging by the short shelf-life of so many fateful pretenders to the throne. But the band behind the epochal 2000 album Hybrid Theory has aged better than most, and there's potential that remains to be tapped still by A Thousand Suns. Linkin Park mastermind Mike Shinoda teamed up again with Rick Rubin, the polymath rap-rock producer who worked on 2007's Minutes to Midnight, and you know a band means business when they title the first two tracks on an album "The Requiem" and "The Radiance."
Fast Fact: Mike Shinoda recently made a "Celebrity Playlist" for iTunes that included songs by Oingo Boingo, Tears for Fears, and N.W.A., among others.

Mike juga mejelaskantentang konsep video ini :
"The concept to the video: It kind of comes from the idea of, like, if you could imagine when nuclear fission was invented, or a moment in time when something can be used for positive or negative, something can be beautiful or it can be destructive. Or even, you know, if you've ever seen a dangerous fire from far away, it's devastating up close, but from far away, it can be beautiful. Those are the kind of themes that run throughout the album, and they're also themes that you see in the video."

Lagu Berdurasi 3:55 menit itu hanya terdengar Chaz yang menyanyi sendiri, genrenya pun masih numetal era Meteora, menurut gue sih mirip lagu Dead By Sunrise.

Linkin Park have spent much of the past year touting the overall insanity of their upcoming A Thousand Suns album (it's a "grandiose insanity," in case you were wondering), and that idea certainly carries over into the first single, an aching slice of synth doomery titled "The Catalyst." It seems that, every step of the way, the band is trying very hard to move beyond their nu-metal roots.
So it should come as no surprise, too, that the video for "The Catalyst" is a far different animal.
"[Linkin Park DJ] Joe [Hahn] directed it, and Joe likes to create things visually, likes to go for something big," LP bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell told MTV News. "So the look of it is very different. There's a lot of energy in it, and for me, that's what makes for a good video. It adds something to the song, and that's what makes me like this particular video even more."
Farrell wouldn't spill any details of the video — which will debut August 26 on MTV.com and VH1.com — but he did hint that it would be in keeping with the artistic theme of Suns (due September 14), which means that Linkin Park fans should gear up for a whole lot of blurry, digitally scarred WTF-ery ... sort of like the cover of the album.
"For this record, I think we were able to be in front of the curve for a lot of things. We were working on art, and we've been working on it nonstop, because we really wanted to incorporate it in everything," Farrell said. "And in the case of the album cover, we released it in little pieces, gradually constructing it out of nothing, and fans were seeing all kinds of stuff, they saw people's faces and everything ... none of that was intentionally there."
So, will the secret of the Thousand Suns cover be revealed in "The Catalyst" video? Probably not. After all, the guys in Linkin Park aren't even really sure what the image is supposed to be.
"I don't want to say what I think it is — I don't know — but I don't want to ruin it for anyone. It's a good reference for the record itself," Farrell said. "I would go so far as to say it's anything you want it to be."
"The Catalyst" video premieres at midnight on August 25 (technically that's the 26th) on MTV.com and VH1.com, and then on MTV, VH1, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits, MTV Tr3s and all MTV international territories at 8 p.m. ET/PT on August 26.

"Just arrived in Germany. It’s the first day of a short promotional tour for A THOUSAND SUNS. I’m still adjusting to the idea that this album is finally about to be released into the world after almost two years of hard work. Today (and for the next few days) Phoenix and I will be talking to people from all over the world about the songs, our recording process, the release, and what we like to eat and do when we’re in Germany.
"This album is mostly a new Fort Minor album featuring Linkin Park record. The drums sound all electronic and hip hop like, there is a lot of different percussion (e.g bushdrums) and as I mentioned before Mike is much more present than Chester.
Chester only screams 2x."

Last week, gamers everywhere thrilled to the new trailer for the upcoming "Medal of Honor," which was directed by Linkin Park's Joseph Hahn and features the band's brand-new single, "The Catalyst."
And while the trailer no doubt had "MOH" fanatics going crazy, it may have left LP fans feeling a bit confused. Because "The Catalyst" is undoubtedly unlike any song the band has ever released. A moody, synth-heavy, decidedly doomy rumination on the broken times in which we live, it seems to back up the group's claims that their new album, A Thousand Suns, will be a drastic departure from anything they've done in the past.
And that, according to LP bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, was precisely the point.
"We wanted a track that represented where the album was going to be and how it was going to work, and this was really the track to do that. ... It's a risk, but [it's] worth it," he told MTV News earlier this week. "We've known [the album is] going to be different, and if fans were expecting Hybrid Theory or Meteora, they're going to be surprised. It's going to take people some time to figure it out and know what to do with it."
Farrell wouldn't go into greater detail about just how the new album, due September 14, will differ from Linkin Park's previous efforts, but any fan with a pair of ears should be able to tell based on "The Catalyst" alone. The songs are bigger, deeper, decidedly weirder. And while Farrell didn't exactly back up frontman Chester Bennington's earlier claims that A Thousand Suns is a full-blown "concept" album, he didn't really deny them either.
"I've never liked the title 'concept record,' to me that holds up the idea of Tommy or The Wall. And I love those records, but this is not that," he said. "There are a couple threads that run throughout it, but, for us, the only concept is that it's not intended to be a collection of individual songs. It's constructed in a way and thought of in terms of 'How will it flow?' I would love ... in this day and age, for our fans just once to sit down and listen to it from front to back. We want it to work as an experience."
And to that end, Farrell said the band always wanted to tie "The Catalyst" into a video game of some sort. The way they see it, it only adds another layer to the experience. So when the "Medal of Honor" folks approached them, they leapt at the opportunity. Though, sadly, working with Electronic Arts — the publisher and developer of the "MOH" series — hasn't improved their gaming skills any. But you can't really blame LP for that. After all, they've been working on A Thousand Suns for a long time now.
"I loved the old 'Medal of Honor' games, but since we've been working on the new album — and really, since I had kids — I've kind of hung it up for a while," Farrell laughed. "It sucks because now I have a younger brother who's 15 and when we play against each other, it's not even competitive. It's ridiculous. And it pisses me off. He's laughing and sh--. He's killing me with his knife."
As anyone who follows the band knows, we usually have a LOT of stuff going on. The tough part for us is finding a simpler way to keep you guys up-to-date. We’re trying out a new solution: the new Linkin Park App, for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android.
The app is FREE. It has all the obvious stuff, like news and tour dates, but also plays all our LPTV episodes and videos, finds other LP fans in your area (if you want), and collects all Linkin Park online activity, all in one place. You can connect it to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, so you can respond to a blog post or video without opening and closing a bunch of windows. You can also shoot photos at the concert, and immediately upload them online using the app…and it ranks users based on activity, so if you’re active on our sites, you’ll get recognized.
It currently supports English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Dutch, and Turkish. More to come.
Also, for those of you who have already downloaded the app, I just created a thread on the message board to discuss ways to make it better: http://www.linkinpark.com/forum/topics/new-linkin-park-app

Last month we reported details of a movie listed on IMDB titled "Dark as Day" directed by Levi Holiman, which was speculated to star Mike Shinoda & Chester Bennington in a casting role. Well, not liking speculation, the LPA set out to confirm or disprove these rumours, and give you fans a little insight on the status of this project.
After speaking to Levi Holiman myself personally, here is what we discussed, and what Levi had to say on the project.

Whenever we finish an album, it's usually coupled with a block of text meant to describe it. The record company pays a “reputable” writer to craft their most exciting description of the music, in the hopes that it will help convince you to like it. But it seems to us that words usually don't do a great job of defining the sound of an album, so we thought we’d try something different and just tell you, directly from us, what was on our minds as we set out to make our new album, A Thousand Suns. We’ll leave the rest up to you.
Before you hear the music, we wanted you to know that this album was put together to be enjoyed as that: an album. We’re aware that many people are accustomed to small, single-song servings. In spite of that (or maybe because of it), we mean for this album to take you on a journey. If you decide to listen to the album in pieces, that’s fine; we just wanted to let you know there’s a part of the experience that only works when you listen to A Thousand Suns from beginning to end.
Listening to some of our favorite albums, it’s easy to forget that there was a moment in time, before their release, when they were just a crazy idea to an artist. We tried to keep that moment in mind as we were making this record. It provided us with the inspiration to take chances and not worry if at first something we tried was different or weird.
If you are already familiar with our band, you may notice a difference in the sound of this one. Part of it is because we love to try new things, and part of it is because there has been a sound that we've been waiting for in modern alternative music. We worked with Rick Rubin again on this record (he co-produced our last record) because he understood our vision of trying to capture this new sound.
We hope you enjoy the music and will come talk to us at www.linkinpark.com.
Brad, Chester, Dave, Joe, Mike, and Rob
PS: The people who work hard to promote our band wanted us to add a bunch of stats right here that are meant to impress you. We didn’t like that idea but, as a compromise, we agreed that we’d provide this link in case you want any of this information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkin_Park. We said that we’re pretty sure you’ve heard of Wikipedia but they didn’t believe us.
2) A THOUSAND SUNS
We were not making an album.
For months, we'd been destroying and rebuilding our band. The experiments that resulted filled the studio hard drive with diverse, abstract sounds. Amorphous echoes, cacophonous samples, and handmade staccato merged into wandering, elusive melody. Each track felt like a hallucination.
We didn't know if any of those unorthodox ideas could be incorporated into a traditional album, but we knew we didn't want our next album to be predictable. Sitting together in the same studio where we made our first album, all six of us voiced a commitment to going out on a limb, to making something truly daring. We asked ourselves: were we all earnestly willing, more than ever before, to abandon the precepts of commercial ambition in pursuit of what we believe to be honest art?
The inclination to begin writing conventional songs for a conventional album came and went. The temptation to adjust our creative vision to fulfill expectations beyond our studio walls yielded to the audacious ambition of what he hoped to achieve as a band. The two years of making A Thousand Suns marked our exhilarating, surrealistic, and often challenging journey into the creative unknown.
On the eve of its completion, this body of work, assembled through unconscious inspiration and unmitigated exertion, has revealed to us notions both stirring and surprising. The album's personified imagery is neither dogma nor political premeditation. The emergent themes and metaphors illuminate a uniquely human story.
A Thousand Suns grapples with the personal cycle of pride, destruction, and regret. In life, like in dreams, this sequence is not always linear. And, sometimes, true remorse penetrates the devastating cycle. The hope, of course, springs from the notion that the possibility of change is born in our most harrowing moments.
Enjoy the music.

Chester: - Hello.
Chester:- [in Australian accent] Hello Zane.
Zane:- Hello mate. It's been such a long time since I've spoken to you dude.
Chester:- It has been. It has. How have you been?
Zane:- Yeah. Life is good man. What are you doing? Are you on speakerphone now?
Chester:- I am. I'm driving and it's illegal in California for you to drive with your phone in your hand.
Zane:- So, Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. We got the news only a couple of days ago that you've got this new track called The Catalyst and we've got plenty of time to talk because I know that there are fans all over the world who are just itching to hear this. So, we're going to introduce it right now. The first official single from the new Linkin Park album called A Thousand Suns. It's called The Catalyst. It's out officially on September 6th. We have Chester on the phone now after this but right now - world wide exclusive. Let's go!
[The Catalyst plays]
Zane:- So there you go man. The first time I heard that I was pleasantly suprised. Not that I wasn't expecting quality Chester but you know, it's a real, it's a different sound from you guys, there's less guitars. It's sort of more driving on a rhythm. It's up in tempo. It's got a lot of momentum. Was it a fun song to record?
Chester:- It was a fun song to record. Yeah. You know, this song was really, it was a really interesting song because it is all of those things that you said it is. You know, there's, the guitars are more textural, they come in later in the song. It's what drives it, the track are the rhythms. The electronic side is just really aggressive and heavy and what I also love about it is the fact that it is just like this constant chant that just keeps repeating. And I feel like, lyrically, like it doesn't matter where you come from, it doesn't matter what part of the world you are from, I feel like you can relate to it. To the words. You know, like it means something to you. And so, another interesting thing that we did on this record is Mike - his vocals have become really strong and so on The Catalyst, you'll hear that I might not sound like myself in parts thats because of Mike's singing. And so we blended the vocals to kind of fade in and out of going from Mike to me, back to Mike and then back to me. It's a very cool thing that we've done on this record.
Zane:- To me, when I heard it, you know, it's such a good run over the last bunch of albums that it felt to me like you came back. Like, had to be different and had to be, you trying different things. Always in the studio, you've always pushed the boundaries in the studio. Along with Rick Ruben, if this has anything to go by, It sounds like you guys are really trying a lot of different stuff.
Chester:- We are. And, you know, our intention is always to recreate or, not recreate but kind of come up with something new that we haven't heard before. Tha'ts a really challenging thing. Especially since, human nature, at least from my experience has always been a kind of "Oh this is working, we should keep doing this". You know. So for us, its kind of working really well or lets not try that. I have to take my hat off to Mike Shinoda. He really is the driving force in creatively music wise. People are always asking me what our secret is and I usually don't tell them because I don't want them to talk to Mike. I really think he is the most talented person I've ever met and I think he is probably the most talented song writer we have in the industry right now.
Zane:- So there it is, Linkin Park fans. Are you happy? We have more from Chester Bennington right through the week and you will be hearing the Catalyst again.

We’re a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can’t be outfought
It can’t be outdone
It can’t be outmatched
It can’t be outrun
And when I close my eyes tonight
To symphonies of blinding light
(God bless us every one / we’re a broken people living under loaded gun)
Oh / like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky
God save us every one
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns
For the sins of our hand
The sins of our tongue
The sins of our father
The sins of our young
And when I close my eyes tonight
To symphonies of blinding light
(God save us every one / will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns)
Oh / like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky
Lift me up
Let me go

An exclusive chat with two of Linkin Park's founders, Brad Delson and Mike Shinoda, both 33, on the Sunset Marquis hotel rock in Los Angeles.
They sit reclined on a sofa with his feet on the table, two California-ordinary guys in jeans and sneakers, who jokes that they so far have only received one positive comment by the journalists who have listened to the disc.
Are you nervous about reviews?
- No, it's not much you can do. You can not control. The important thing is that we are satisfied, says Brad.
Mike Shinoda is the producer of the album - along with the legendary Rick Rubin, who previously worked with greats like Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica.
Had a clear vision.
- Several of the band did not want to bring in some other producer because we had such a clear vision of what the album would be, "says Mike.
- I did not think we would work with Rick from the beginning, but during our first meeting, he came directly with several good ideas.
14 years, after the band was founded, most of the band married and has children.
Is there a difference between now and then?
- Our emotional energy has changed after we got married and had children, said Brad Delson, guitarist in the band.
- Our emotional energy is different, explains Brad, but says that touring is never easy.
- Some are made for it. Some love to be out there. But I do not think any of us do, says Mike, but stresses that they still like the performances. Some partying will not travel - even in ordinary cases, for that matter.
- When I was little I thought the festival was to dance and eat, but my mom said "no, it means that you'll be drinking alcohol," says Brad himself a teetotaler.
You have many Swedish fans. What do you think of Sweden?
- Was not that where we said that we felt uncomfortable that everyone was so nice? In some places, you feel just so damn ugly because there is so much beautiful people around. It is not even subjectively, it is a fact, says Mike.

LOS ANGELES (31/JUL/2010) California band Linkin Park celebrates their 10th anniversary of their musical career with their September release of “A Thousand Suns”, the most experimental album to date from the ambassadors of rapcore.
The single “The Catalyst” serves as a precursor to the bands hard work and will debut on radios worldwide on August 2nd.
“We decided to do something different, use different instruments. I think our last album (“Minutes to Midnight”, 2007) was the beginning of our exploration of new sounds and with this one we push ourselves more to do something outside of what we are accustomed to.” Said drummer Rob Bourdon.
This experiment resulted in a compact product, which combines the lyrical and the “heavy”, that is still being mixed for its release on September 14.
“We found our objective,” affirmed a satisfied Bourdon, who invited Linkin Parks followers to listen to the album “from start to finish.”
“It will take you on a journey in which some songs are related to others, they complement each other. They are more impactful when you hear them all together,” said the percussionist, who along with his bandmates, is aware that their evolution may not be accepted by all their fans.
“We try not to preoccupy ourselves with what others could think when we work on our songs because it’s not productive,” commented singer Chester Bennington for him a decade after first publishing “Hybrid Theory” the group has matured.
“The music we make now is the result of putting pressure on ourselves to make something unique. We hope we no longer sound like the same band we were (when we started) because that is exactly what we didn’t want to occur during our career,” said Bennington.
The creators of songs like “Somewhere I Belong”, “Crawling”, and “In the End” justified their obsession to reinvent themselves for the good of the band because anything else “would be boring” and would not motivate them to make music, said Bourdon.
“A Thousand Suns” will be the fourth studio album from Linkin Park after "Hybrid Theory" (2000), "Meteora" (2003) and "Minutes to Midnight" (2007) and the second that they do under the supervision of Producer Rick Rubin, a specialist in hit records whose worked with artist like Johnny Cash and groups like Public Enemy, AC/DC, and U2.
“It’s taken a couple of years,” commented Bennington, who said that the album would be approximately 40 minutes in length.
“One of the big things about working with Rubin is that we don’t put a date on ourselves to finish the album. That (the process) takes as long as it takes. You have to let the things flow. It’s a fun and painless system, what happens takes time,” explained the vocalist.
This open approach led the group to allow the fans to complete the final piece to the puzzle of “A Thousand Suns.”
On their Myspace page, Linkin Park invited their fans to make their own version of the single “The Catalyst” giving them a base to work with and the plan being to include the track they like the most on the new album, a risky but exciting proposal.
“The idea scares me, it’s as if you are a painter and you tell someone else that they can paint in the corner of your canvas. You start thinking that it will end up wrong or it won’t be consistent with the rest of the picture,” said Bennington, a little optimistic.
“It is not smart to think that we will find something that will satisfy everyone, although to response from the people has been overwhelming. It could be that we have so much good material that the hard part will be the end deciding which is the best amongst it all.”
Linkin Park will begin its world tour on October 7 with a concert in Buenos Aires, which will be followed by performances in Santiago de Chile (October 9) and Sao Paulo (11 October), before heading to Europe where in principle is expected to pass through Spain.
“Our goal is to make more music more often. We are ready to go back to the studio in September, but we have to tour. We will try for the rest of our career to find a balance between being in the studio and being on the road.” Confessed Bennington.
